Growing steady income for families in Yemen

Hope and growth were celebrated as Humaniti launched a project to empower food-insecure families by harnessing their skills in agriculture.

Tools, seeds, and fertilizers were provided to families in Yemen to grow their farming capabilities and foster a steady supply of food and income. With the vast majority of people in Yemen living in poverty and experiencing food insecurity, the need to assist was urgent.

Humaniti provided marketing tools that helped these families sell their produce. So far this project has benefitted 50 families in need, and will also directly impact 17,605 families in one agricultural season.

Through this initiative, families were empowered not only to grow their own food but also to reclaim a sense of self-sufficiency. Humaniti provided marketing tools that helped these families utilize their skills by selling their produce, generating income and building resilience against future hardships.

There is an immense benefit to sending care packages with food and resources for those in need. This initiative, however, wanted to make a long-lasting impact. Instead of sending food packages for those in Yemen, Humaniti wanted to battle food insecurity through the learning of growth and agricultural skills to help individuals feel secure throughout the season. . By providing gardening tools, seeds, and fertilizers, families gained the ability to cultivate their own food, ensuring not only immediate relief but sustainable, self-reliant nourishment. This approach transformed food security from a temporary fix into a long-term solution, helping individuals take charge of their future while fostering economic independence through selling their surplus produce.

So far, this project has benefitted 50 families in need and will also directly impact 17,605 families in one agricultural season. With continued support and resources, this initiative plants the seeds for long-term change — transforming survival into sustainability.
