Planning brighter futures for orphans across continents

Amidst devastation, pain and hardships, children are left to navigate their harsh realities. Losing their homes, families, loved ones, and their sense of comfort and safety, they are left to face struggles that no child should have to face alone. 

Due to the recent catastrophe caused by floods from monsoon rains in Pakistan, combined with economic hardships and a growing population, there has been an immense need to support orphans. Around 159 individuals died during these floods, leaving many children on their own. This tragedy contributed to the already concerning amounts of orphans in Pakistan. 

In response to the growing concern for these children, Basera Trust works towards brightening the future of these children and Humaniti works to continue our support for their project. Basera Trust has created a home for 75 orphans as of January 2023, providing them with the love they deserve. Children who were looking for solace and shelter after struggling through the loss of their homes, families, and safety. To enable these kids to dream of a brighter future, Basera Trust offers them religious studies, medical care, and access to education, ensuring they are not only housed but nurtured. With an environment built on trust and care, children are given the chance to grow into who they want to be, allowing their dreams to be nurtured and to flourish. 

Recognizing the impact of this initiative, Humaniti extended its support to Basera Trust by hosting a fundraising dinner to raise funds for essential resources that will aid these children.

Humaniti and Basera Trust did not stop there. Humaniti believes in the importance of well-being both globally and locally. Alongside Basera Trust and our partners in Dallas, Humaniti has started the initiative to provide housing and support for youth who are aging out of foster care and are attending college. These students are at such a pivotal point in time in their lives. Our mission is to help ensure they have the stability and resources needed to thrive academically and personally.

Every young person deserves the chance to have a promising future. These youth transitioning out of foster care have often been overlooked and left without the support needed. The feeling of being on one’s own, especially after having to endure – is difficult on its own to process. Humaniti recognized the cycle of hardship that these individuals must endure and was determined to do whatever we could to break that cycle to create more opportunities for success for these youth. Our Dallas headquarters administered educational resources, worked towards finding stable home environments for the youth and created an environment that truly cares. In doing so, they could begin to plan their future with high hopes and stronger confidence. 

Both initiatives – the care for orphans in Islamabad and the aid to youth in foster care – work towards the same principle: that every child, regardless of age, deserves a sense of safety, stability, and kindness to flourish. Whether it’s in Pakistan or Dallas, the goal is to empower and strengthen youth to step out into the world fully prepared and supported.
