Giving all that we can for survivors in Gaza
For decades, the people of Gaza have faced unrelenting oppression and persecution. From apartheid, displacements, attacks, killings, and violence, their perseverance is a force to behold. In 2023, when these attacks reached an unprecedented level, the people remained unshakeable.
Men, women and children are being killed in the thousands. Their strength is staggering. While we do whatever we can to aid them, in truth it is they who are strengthening us. Not only must we help them in their struggle, but also repay them for showing us true bravery in the face of adversity.
Ever since the attacks on Palestine escalated, Humaniti and our partners have been on the ground providing as much relief as possible to thousands of survivors. We have partnered with surgeons to provide orthopedic surgeries to give a chance at a full life. On the ground, we have distributed hot meals, food supplies, clean water, shelter and hygiene kits, and medical facilities and treatment.
Hot meals and food supplies have filled the bellies of families who, amidst all of the pain, hadn’t had a proper meal in ages. The simple act of receiving a warm meal brought relief to many, offering a sense of normalcy amid uncertainty. Not only did the food satisfy hunger, but it also lifted spirits, reminding them that they were not alone in their struggle.
Clean water becomes harder and harder to come by. With bombings shattering infrastructures and destroying pipelines for clean water, the people of Gaza are left to cup their hands to the sky, eager to catch rainwater – polluted as it is — because there is no other choice. Humaniti works towards creating more choices. We built wells, and solar water boxes, and provided water bottles to quench their thirst, giving them a safer, cleaner option. Our solar boxes can provide 10,000 litres of water daily, thus fit to serve many of those in need.
With oppressors targeting hospital facilities and killing doctors and patients alike, the need for medical supplies and staff was immense. This is why, along with partners like FAJR Scientific, we worked towards providing life-saving care to survivors like orthopedic surgeries. Patients who thought they wouldn’t be able to walk ever again can have a second chance at life. Children whose injuries were left untreated could now walk, run, and play again.
The physicality of Gaza has been broken, but the spirits of its people continue to rise. Humaniti will continue to stand with them, extend a helping hand, and restore hope, dignity, and opportunity to those who need it most.
