Long-term solutions to longstanding challenges

Conflict has displaced millions and created dire shortages of food, water, and healthcare in the Middle East. Political and economic instability have worsened poverty and unemployment while climate change and resource conflicts strain already fragile communities. Much of our impact has taken place in the Middle East and we’re going to expand that impact year after year until we make history.

Relief in the Middle East

Regions throughout the Middle East, Palestine in particular, have weathered a tremendous amount of human loss and destruction in recent years. Humaniti and our partners have doubled our focus on bringing relief to these populations as much as possible, covering everything from emergency food, water and medical aid to constructing camps, hospitals and schools to help the people rebuild their lives.

Food security in the Middle East

Extreme food insecurity and malnutrition claim the lives of millions across the Middle East which is why Humaniti and our partners prioritize food programs wherever the need is greatest. We provide hot meals and food supplies to vulnerable groups, families, healthcare centres and schools, and increase these programs during Ramadan when millions of Muslims are unable to take part in sacred ceremonies due to poor food access.

Water access in the Middle East

People across the Middle East bear the brunt of extreme water scarcity and this impacts every single aspect of their lives, as they’re forced to use disease ridden water to cook, bathe and clean, let alone drink. Humaniti and our partners are working in communities across the Middle East to construct sustainable clean water sources, from traditional wells to modern solar water boxes, yielding 10,000 litres of water every day for decades.

Healthcare in the Middle East

Millions across the Middle East are getting by without access to adequate medical care, whether they’ve been displaced by conflict, suffer extreme poverty, or live in remote regions without a doctor in sight. Humaniti works with local organizations to provide medical services and strengthen healthcare systems where the need is most critical.

Prosperity in the Middle East

Extreme poverty and a lack of opportunity is a reality for many in the Middle East, but some face additional barriers to a prosperous life, such as caring for a disabled family member, or being a single mother with all responsibilities on her shoulders. Humaniti leads numerous livelihood initiatives that empower these groups to run their own business, earn and income and provide for their whole family.

Support for mothers in the Middle East

Across the world we prioritize the well-being of mothers whenever possible, and that includes the Middle East where women face additional sociocultural challenges. Whether we’re providing emergency relief or healthcare or livelihood opportunities, we’re always looking for ways to protect and empower mothers wherever possible.

Child welfare in the Middle East

A tremendous amount of children in the region have become orphaned in recent years and we’re doing everything we can to provide these brave young lives with the care they need to live the healthy, hopeful life they deserve. With our partners we’re providing orphans and refugee children with nutritious food, clean water, medical care, financial assistance, clothing, counseling and education.
