Let’s finally end global hunger
At Share a Meal we deliver food, build bakeries and kitchens, and create sustainable models for entire communities to get fresh food every day. Help us create a world where anyone who is struggling can access free groceries and hot meals.

Meals for families
Hunger traps people in a vicious cycle of poverty. Without food, children can’t grow or attend school and when they become adults their lack of education limits them from finding work. Those who are malnourished also simply don’t have the energy to work or study. Once a family is stuck in a cycle of poverty and hunger it is very difficult to break out of.
Share a Meal operates many local and international programs that support vulnerable communities with immediate and sustainable relief from food insecurity. Our programs provide:
- Hot, nutritious meals
- Staple Food Supplies
- Communal spaces like bakeries, kitchens and mini-markets where locals can consistently access fresh food

Meals for children
14 million children under the age of five worldwide suffer from severe acute malnutrition. 75% of malnourished children live in countries affected by war.
Our goal is to be on the ground wherever the consequences of conflict and other disasters threaten a child’s right to nutritious food. Share a Meal also operates programs to ensure that vulnerable children have the nourishment they need to attend school. Our programs provide meals and meal plans for:
- Orphans
- Refugees
- Children for Single Parents
- Students
Meals for survivors
One of the most crucial impacts you can have on someone who’s just survived a traumatic event is food. A hot, nutritious meal provides a person with energy, helps them focus, warms them up and gives them stamina to keep going. Conflict and disasters also wipe out food sources indefinitely so that survivors who are already fighting for survival must also stave off hunger too.
Share a Meal teams are bringing hot, nutritious meals to survivors of major conflicts and natural disasters, as well as other vulnerable groups experiencing heightened threats to their safety. Right now our programs are feeding:
- Refugees and displaced people
- Those with disabilities
- Hospital patients
- Women fleeing domestic violence

Meals for students
Research shows that students coming from a food insecure household lack the same opportunities to be successful in school as students who have consistent access to food. Nutrition plays a critical role in our brains’ ability to learn and grow, and a child’s chances of living a bright and fulfilling life plummet if they’re forced to go to school hungry.
Thanks to donor support Share a Meal is able to operate multiple long-term programs that keep students nourished and thriving with:
- Daily meals for students
- Food supplies for students’ families
- Food supplies for faculty and staff
Meals for mothers
Studies consistently indicate that women are especially vulnerable to food insecurity and its health consequences. Maternal food insecurity can result in many health-damaging effects from adverse birth outcomes to mental health issues. A lack of adequate nourishment affects mother and baby in equal measure.
While governments provide some resources to pregnant women and mothers, incomes remain low and inadequate to achieve food security. Our maternal nutrition programs are designed to provide stability and nourishment to:
- Pregnant women and new moms
- Single mothers
- Widows
- Female-led households
